Tracer MR — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This policy explains what data Tracer MR collects, why it collects it, how long it is kept, and how you can have it deleted. Tracer MR collects only what it needs to confirm that you own the app and to unlock the Pro upgrade you bought, plus the setup it saves on your headset. It has no servers, no analytics, and never sells or shares your data.
Who is responsible
Tracer MR is made by Zarak Khan, an individual developer based in Pakistan, trading as The Spatial Studios. Zarak Khan is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: zarakkhn2002@gmail.com.
Data we collect and how we use it
1. Your Meta user ID
- What: the user ID that Meta assigns to your account for Tracer MR.
- How we get it: from Meta, through the Meta Horizon Platform SDK, each time the app starts and whenever it checks your purchases.
- Why: to confirm that your account owns Tracer MR, which Meta requires of every app on its store, and to check whether you have bought the Pro upgrade.
- How long: used in memory while the app is running only. The app does not save it to your headset and does not send it to us or to anyone else.
2. Purchase information
- What: the list of Tracer MR add-ons your account owns (the product code, the purchase ID, and the date of purchase), and the name and price of the Pro upgrade.
- How we get it: from Meta, through the Meta Horizon Store, when the app starts, when you open the Pro upgrade, and when you buy it.
- Why: to unlock Pro features if you have bought them, to show you the price, and to complete a purchase you start.
- How long: used in memory while the app is running only. The app does not save it; the next time you open the app it asks Meta again. The purchase itself is processed and recorded by Meta. Tracer MR never sees your payment details or billing address.
3. Your saved setup (stored only on your headset)
- What: a small settings file (which image you were tracing, and its size, opacity, and position); a copy of the one image you imported from your headset's photo picker, if you used your own picture; and a spatial anchor, a reference point in your room saved with Meta's on-device anchor storage.
- Why: so that your reference image reappears in the same place, at the same settings, the next time you open the app.
- How long: until you unlock the reference or uninstall the app. Only the image currently in use is kept; earlier copies are deleted automatically. None of this ever leaves your headset, and we cannot access it.
Camera and sensor data
To place your reference against a real surface, the app uses passthrough, depth sensing, and scene information provided by Meta's system software. Tracer MR receives only where surfaces are and which way they face. It never receives, records, or stores camera images, and it does not use the microphone.
What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking.
- No crash or performance reporting.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No servers or cloud storage. Apart from the store checks with Meta described above, Tracer MR works entirely on your headset.
- No third-party companies, contractors, or service providers receive your data.
- We never sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
How to delete your data
Every user can have their data deleted, wherever they live, free of charge.
- Data on your headset: unlock the reference in the app (the Unlock / Re-place control) to delete the settings file, any imported image copies, and the spatial anchor immediately. Uninstalling Tracer MR also removes everything the app stored.
- Request deletion by email: email zarakkhn2002@gmail.com with the subject "Tracer MR data deletion". We will delete any data we hold about you and confirm in writing within 30 days. Because the app does not save your user ID or purchase information, in practice this confirms that nothing is held, and we will help you remove the data on your headset if you need it.
- Data held by Meta: your Meta account, purchase history, and payment records are held by Meta, not by us. You can manage or delete them through your Meta account settings, under Meta's own privacy policy.
Your rights
Every user of Tracer MR, wherever they live, has the right to ask what data about them is held, to have it corrected or exported, to have it deleted, and to object to its processing. These rights apply to everyone equally and are free of charge. To use any of them, email zarakkhn2002@gmail.com; you will get a reply within 30 days.
Children
Tracer MR is a creative tool for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. It handles the same limited data for every user, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Tracer MR handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the app's store release notes.
